O’s Notes: It is rather unusual for a pop singer to sing jazz. That is exactly what England does. But he’s not an imposter; he makes a good case! He has a strong rhythm section behind him with Tony Dumas (b), Ralph Penland (d) and producer/arranger Mike Melvoin on piano. They roll through fourteen tracks mostly standards with several of Melvoin’s compositions included. Highlights were “Embraceable You” and “Whatever My Bianca Wants”. He shows good potential.
