O’s Notes: Piltzecker is a pianist, vibraphonist, percussionist, educator and composer. He is also the dedicated leader of the band that includes Sam Dillon (sax) and Nick Lierandi (g). Guest artist Harvey S (b) adds swing on “He Sent An Angel”. The underlying groove is neo-bop that will also appeal to jazz-fusion fans especially on the energetic title track. Ted composed six of the seven selections surrounding a cool cover of Horace Silver’s “Nica’s Dream”. We also enjoyed the bossa nova beats on “Kalunga” and the cooker “Reunion Blues” featuring Dillon.
