O’s Notes: The legendary pianist, guitarist, vocalist and composer is often copied and thought to be a pioneer of bossa nova. Stone Flower was released in 1970 and many of Jobim’s tunes continue to be rearranged and recorded by a vast number of musicians. The band includes Ron Carter (b), Airto Moreira (perc) and of course Jobim (p, g, vocals). Hubert Laws (fl) makes a guest appearance on “Amparo”. The program includes song that are now classics: “Choro”, “Children’s Games” and “Brazil”.
