O’s Notes: Multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer Collin Sherman is a one man show on Suitable Benchmarks of Reform. He plays all instruments and dubs them together for the finished product. Sherman’s core competence is on reeds (sax, cl, oboe), then keyboards, guitar, electronics and drum programming. There’s a funky mid-eastern vibe on “Phalanx Strictures” contrasting with the spontaneous, melancholic sax on “Rival Machinations”. We enjoyed the eerie “Rumination Suite” in what is a rather intriguing set.
