O’s Notes: Peter sparked our interest on the first song, “Dreamcatcher”, a sure winner. It has a cool flow highlighted by Calandra’s work on the keys with Stomu Takeishi adding a mellow yet funky bass line and Howard Joines putting in the accents on drums. They take it down a notch and bring on the brass over the next couple of tracks before picking up the pace briefly on “Neon Beach”. Dale Kleps (sax) is inviting on “Crescent Moon”, another of our favorites. Calandra resumes leadership with “Turn Down The Lights” a beautiful solo piano piece. All original pieces performed well.
