O’s Notes: Karen made this gem back in 1994. It still sounds fresh today. It was her second album, a collection of standards arranged by Alan Broadbent who also played piano on this session. Th rest of the band is Putter Smith (b), Sherman Ferguson (d), Bob Cooper (sax), Danny Embrey (g) and Randy Sandke (t). Karrin’s had already established herself as a polished jazz musician. She sings and scats with exuberance and poise, enjoying herself throughout the journey. This is a noteworthy SACD reissue.
