O’s Notes: They call him “Sweet” Lu Olutosin for a reason and that is immediately clear from the first track, “Malcom’s Song”. Lu’s rich baritone is as mellow as the tone from the brass. Jeremy Pelt (t) and Tivon Pennicott (sax) play melodic solos in from of a dynamic rhythm section with bassist Mike Karn, Jerome Jennings on drums and leader/pianist Antonio Ciacca. But this is Olutosin’s set and he reminds us of that over nine classic tunes delivered in delightful tones.
