O’s Notes: The title is a strong hint to the contents of this CD. Phil Woods (alto sax) performs as the guest soloist with the DePaul University Jazz Ensemble. They stepped into Chicago’s Jazz Showcase during May 2006 and created this work of art. The brass is large and plentiful. Director Bob Lark manages the throttle well. The rhythm section is tight and the addition of vibes Justin Thomas) softens the attack on “Stockholm Sweetnin'”. They show balance with a delicate touch on “Never Let Me Go”. Top shelf material!
