O’s Notes: T-Duality cuts across genres from neo-bop to progressive rock with a constant angular improvisation held together by leader, drummer Ananda Gari. Saxophonist Tim Berne wails on tunes like “Are You Kidding Me” on top of a rhythm section that cooks with bassist Michael Formanek, guitarist Rez Abbasi and Gari keeping time. Abbasi shares the melodies with a contrasting view to Berne. Their free flowing improvisation is daring and mysterious.
