O’s Notes: Guitarist Matt Panayides teams up with Rich Perry (sax), Steve LaSpina (b) and drummer Dan Weiss to perform eight new original compositions. They open cooking on “Seoul Soul”. The music reflects different times in Matt’s life leading to a wide variety of inspirations. “Why Bail Them Out?” is an upbeat fusion tune while “Amalgamation” is more on the avant-garde side. There are also a few ballads notably “Out of My Hands”. Our favorite was the fast paced blues fusion of “Sketch”.
