O’s Notes: Jazz bassist and composer Martin Nevin moved from LA to NY to study at Manhattan School of Music in 2006. He’s been a mainstay in Big Apple jazz ever since and recently released“Tenderness is Silent, his debut as a leader. Sam Harris (p), Craig Weinrib (d), Kyle Wilson (t-sax) and Roman Fili (a-sax) join Nevin to perform this all-original set. The music is true to the title with gentle, introspective passages and soft tones. While unimposing, the music is complex with lots of depth. Highlights are “Grasp At Nothing” and “The First of Many Exits”.
