O’s Notes: With A Texas-Sized Band The Joymakers give us a view of 1920s, southwestern jazz, a swinging combination of blues and ragtime. The large ensemble is led by producer, arranger Colin Hancock (cornet, sax, mellophone, kazoo, vocals). Additional vocals come from arranger Lauryn Gould (sax). We liked the lazy swag of “Honey Child”, “Bye Bye Baby”, “Dreaming ‘Bout My Man”, and “Daniel’s Blues”. We also enjoyed Colin’s romp on “Stomp Off, Let’s Go!”
