O’s Notes: Veteran contemporary jazz keyboardist Bob Baldwin combines his funky R&B groove with Brazilian samba for The Brazilian-American Soundtrack. This 2-disc set has two Movements. The first is Rio-Ipanema laced with the Atlantic Ocean breezes. Baldwin invites some local artists to help including vocalists Gigi & Zoiea Ohizep, Café Da Silva (percussion), and Torcuato Mariano (g) on “Corcovado”. New York is the second movement with Bob’s characteristic sound. Gigi, Tony Lewis (d) and Reagan Whiteside (fl) appear in both movements with guest saxophonists Marion Meadows and Freddy V breathing some soul into the Big Apple take. Best bets are “The Greatest Lover”, “Summer Madness” and “Looking At Me”. These are just a few of the many wonders on Baldwin’s latest creation, a contemporary gem!
