O’s Notes: This is a part of the Stars of Jazz Collection. It includes some stunning footage capturing Miles in his prime. After a brief spoken introduction by Robert Herridge, you will listen to a full version of “So What” where the notes on his trumpet are strong and he has incredible focus. There are 3 other songs, “The Duke”, “Blues For Pablo”, “New Rhumba” that round out the 30 minute set. The main musicians are Wynton Kelly (p) Jimmy Cobb (d), Paul Chambers (b) and John Coltrane (sax). The Gil Evans Orchestra is also there! This is a great peak at Miles during the Spring of 1959.
