O’s Notes: LA-based pianist and composer Josh Nelson traipsed across the Pacific to record The Discovery Project live at Kobe Modern Jazz Club, Kobe, Japan on March 9-10, 2019. Nelson leads a trio with bassist Alex Boneham and Dan Schnelle on drums. Five of the six compositions are fresh, relaxed originals and the music feels good. Josh at 28 is well-respected by his peers and shows tremendous potential as the centerpiece of this work.
