O’s Notes: Composer and electronics wizard Dave Soldier marries classical opera with improvising soloists and choir in a large ensemble. The performance is an adaptation of the book of the Amduat from ancient times. It is a rather unusual interpretation of Egyptian history that brings“The Eighth Hour Of Amduat“into the 21st century. Rebecca Cherry (violin) and Marshall Allen (alto sax, EVI) are notable featured soloists. The resulting sound is a creative jazz-fusion with classical excerpts that lend towards one’s sense of adventure. Our favorite is “Netherworld Cavern”.
