O’s Notes: Andy (sax) leads a quartet with Tino Derado (p), Paul Imm (b) and Alan Jones (d). They swing on “The Gate”, bounce on “Mister Jorge”, venture into free space for “Christus Factus” and relax on ballads like “Cherry Street”. But they really shine on the finale “Up the River” where Middleton slices through the changes with the precision of a surgeon.
