O’s Notes: The Folly of Desire is a duet featuring pianist Brad Mehldau and vocalist Ian Bostridge (tenor). The music is focused on sexual freedom, and they approach it from pure lust to lust-free love. Extensive liner notes facilitate the journey. The core of the program is an 11-part title track, appealing more to the classical crowd. We favored the last five selections with more of a jazz bent. Overall, it’s a thought provoking experience.
