O’s Notes: Canadian guitarist Harley Card leads a band with drummer Ethan Ardelli, David French on sax, bassist Jon Maharaj and pianist Matt Newton. Card’s originals are centered on people and places in Toronto that inspired him. We enjoyed the peacefulness of “Ben’s Sanctuary” co-written with Clark. Also of note is the mellow fusion of “Canoe Lake”, great sax work on the Latin-flavored “Highlights” and the super syncopated “Enclosure” making this a fine jazz-fusion session.
