O’s Notes: Bassist, composer and producer Henry Franklin performs with pianist Bill Heid and drummer Carl Burnett in a band called 3 More Sounds. The Happiness of Pursuit is their latest release and like past Franklin albums, this is on point. The Skipper is swinging right out of the gates on “Searchin’, a strong indicator of what follows. The team kept us engaged and feeling good end-to-end. They swing hard on “Boomph” and “It Don’t Mean A Thing” with heady solos from Franklin. They slow down the pace but not the intensity on “When Your Lover Has Gone” featuring a blistering lead line by Heid. This is world-class entertainment.
