O’s Notes: Chester Burnett was Howlin’ Wolf, a legendary blues singer from Mississippi. This video presentation not only chronicles his life but also provides a historical perspective of the blues. There are interviews (of his family, peers and Burnett himself) intertwined with some excellent footage of Howlin’ Wolf, from his childhood to the origin of his nickname to the type of man he was. It’s not a documentary or a concert film but a little of both that was both entertaining and enriching.
