O’s Notes: Jacqueline Tabor has a large voice with rich, soulful and bluesy tones. Ernestine Anderson inspired many of the fifteen selections. The arrangements are well suited to Tabor’s style and her trio provides strong support. You’ve heard all of these classics but not like this. There are examples of strong solos by guitarist Cole Schuster on “Autumn Leaves” and by bassist Greg Feingold on “Misty” while drummer Max Holmberg maintains a steady foundation throughout the set. The tunes have cool, jazzy feel but the title track is unmistakably blues and Jacqueline works it well.“The Lady in the Gown“is Lady Tabor and her performance deserves an ovation!
