O’s Notes: The sophomore release from this Canadian, contemporary jazz-fusion band evolved with internal turmoil that led to reforming the lineup mid stream. The new band is stronger and unified for“The Long Slog“centered on composer and keyboard player Nick Maclean. He is joined by Max Forster (t), Graeme Wallace (sax), Mike Murray (g), Doug Moore (b) and Tom Grosset (d). Producer and special guest trumpeter Brownman Ali stands out on “Theorum”. They fuse progressive rock and Jazz-fusion into their own style mixing genres sometimes within the same tune as on “Sad Ritual” and “Track 5”. “Nonuhno” (written by Moore) is more of a funky fusion that expands the repertoire to include a wide audience.
