O’s Notes: Vibraphonist Peter Appleyard takes a novel approach to female-based ballads parading a cast of ten Sophisticated Ladies in front of his quintet. The band swings all the way through providing a strong foundation and the variety on the mic keeps things interesting. We liked Jackie Richardson on “Georgia” and “Mood Indigo” with Carol McCartney amongst the wide range of vocal talent.
