O’s Notes: Bassist Ben Bastin’s Trio includes John Turville (p) and Joshua Blackmore (d). They form a strong core excelling on “Touting Torino”, a Neobop/fusion track, and “Not Untitled”. They expand the trio for “Arthur” and “As It Was” with Raven Bush (violin) and. Danny Keane (cello). Both are strong selections. Amelia Tucker sings on “Scissors Paper Stone” the lone track with lead vocals, more of a pop tune. Bastin’s inspiration for this outing is his family and the mood is gentle and thoughtful throughout the set.
