O’s Notes: It takes a lot of courage to sing without the reinforcement of a polished musical ensemble. Jeanne Lee does just that with great confidence, great style, and support from pianist Ran Blake. They cover several classic standards; improvised to make both musicians shine, and they certainly do in front of a live, appreciative audience as well as in the studio. There are 33 songs spread across two discs, circa 1966 and 1967 respectively. The songs are soulful, spiritual, passionate, believable and most important, enjoyable!
