O’s Notes: Pianist Keith Jarrett assembled an all-star trio with bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Paul Motian for The Old Country, the only recording these musicians made as a unit. It was recorded at the Deer Head Inn commemorating the second-generation ownership transition in 1992. It was recorded back then and some of the music was released in 1994, but Jarrett and ECM’s Manfred Eicher are compelled to share more with this release in late 2024. And we are glad they did! “All Of You”, “Someday My Prince Will Come”, and “Everything I Love” are among the best of eight selections.
