O’s Notes: Henry a.k.a. “The Skipper” (b) leads a mix of veteran and young musicians on this really swinging CD. Gary Matsumoto (p) makes his recording debut with George Harper (sax), Donald Dean (d) and Mark Waggoner (g). Franklin anchors the beats nicely walking while each of the others does a fine job, especially Mark and Gary leading most of the melodies.
