O’s Notes: Melody is a minimalist jazz singer. She gives you only the essentials. Fortunately her tone and pitch is spot on lending to pleasurable listening. John Hart (g), Neal Miner (b) and Noah Bloom (t) highlight a band that is first rate and provides ample, swinging support to Breyer-Grell. The result is very good vocals with excellent instrumentation. Melody likes to mate verses from different songs and lyrics of one with the melody of another. The program flows well highlighted by “Watch What Happens” sung on top of “Killer Joe” and “Out of This World” with the rhythms of “All Blues”. This is a novel way to add energy to the same old standards and it works well!
