O’s Notes: Sax man Tim Ries leads a jazzy transformation of Rolling Stones hits. From “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” to “Honky Tonk Woman”, it feels good. Tim has participated in the Stones touring bands since 1999 during which time he came up with the idea of adapting their music to jazz. Not only were some of the Stones excited by the effort, Keith Richards (g), Charlie Watts (d) and Ronnie Wood (g) agreed to participate! Ries lined up an abundance of additional talent including Bill Charlap (p), Larry Goldings (B3), John Patitucci (b), Norah Jones (v), Sheryl Crow (v), Lisa Fischer (v) and Bill Frisell (g). So we have excellent musicians playing classic pop music arranged for a jazz audience. We say they are successful.
