O’s Notes: Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey is Brian Haas (p), Reed Mathis (b) and Jason Smart (d). They are a fusion band exploring the boundaries of creativity from time to time. The racing spirit of “Isobel” will keep your pulse going. The melodies coming from Reed’s bass sound more like a guitar but he also anchors the lower registers with deep bass as on “Santiago”. “Fables of Faubus” has a cool swing and lots of interplay between the musicians. Another highlight is the live version of “Happiness Is A Warm Gun”. We like where these guys are going.
