O’s Notes: Dave (g) and Steve (sax) are back again with a new set of nine songs. Jay Anderson (b) and Victor Lewis (d) join them along with special guest Joe Lovano (sax). Among the best tracks are “Six Four Toe” and “Skee”. Both were written by Slagle and include Lovano. They slow down a bit on “Brighter Days” and “Fingers In The Wind” before closing with the upbeat, hard charging of “Strikeology”. This unit plays well together and their neobop-fusion is easy to embrace.
