O’s Notes: Sarah King has a girlish voice that she puts in front of ten classic jazz tracks. The Smoke Rings are her band featuring pianist Alex Levin, bassist Scott Ritchie and Ben Cliness on drums. Together they swing with an abundance of energy on the hot numbers and with grace on the ballads. King also plays the ukulele on several songs rekindling the sound of the 1940s. This one gets better with each track and exceeded our expectations especially on “Caravan” including a spirited solo by Cliness.
