O’s Notes: Maria Schneider conducts a large ensemble that includes a wealth of talent. Steve Wilson (as), Donny McCaslin (ts), Frank Kimbrough (p) and Marshall Gilles (tb) are among the many talented musicians in her orchestra. The Thompson Fields surrounded the Thompson farms where Maria grew up in Minnesota. They serve as an inspiration for Her work and the music is beautiful: layered with complexities and gentle yet powerful phases. This is another fan-funded project on ArtistShare, a true testament of audience appreciation. Schneider rewards supporters with a good performance.
