O’s Notes: There is no way to suppress the energy that Pedersen’s trio had, especially in a live setting! This CD includes two sessions. The first was in Denmark in 1999 and the second in Hamburg, Germany during 2005. They really cook on “Lines” written by Ulf Wakenius and highlighted by one of his blazing solos. Niels-Henning leads the melody on “A Nightingale In Barkley Square” enlivening that ballad. The third member is Jonas Johansen on drums and he holds them together as well as injecting sharp accents where appropriate. Among the best tracks is “Jeg Gik Mig Ud En Sommerdag” again featuring the splendor of Pedersen’s bass lead. This is fusion done well and an excellent remembrance of the late Niels-Henning ¯rsted Pedersen!
