O’s Notes: Bassist Kyle Eastwood presents his sixth recording as a leader. The band is the same lineup as his prior recording, a tight group with Andrew McCormack (p), Quentin Collins (t), Graeme Blevins (sax) and Martyn Kaine (d). The program (all originals) leans more towards the traditional side but will be palatable to a wide audience. The sound is based on the multitude of Eastwood’s experiences around the world including African and French modern jazz. It all works well with a slightly funky vibe and cool energy.
