O’s Notes: This is the next chapter in poetic renderings from pianist Pat Battstone. He is complimented by vocalist Antonella Chionna who sets the mood with strong dynamics and varied pace. The primary focus is the work of the late French poet Robert Desnos. He was unique in his ability to recite his dreams while in a subconscious state. This program includes political and romantic themes by Desnos as well as several originals generally cast in dark shadows. It is off the beaten path but intriguing.
