O’s Notes: Julie has a powerful voice and sets out soaring on the opener “We Kiss In A Shadow”. She uses her voice like an instrument scatting on “Meaning Of The Blues” and “On The Verge” complemented by Ben Monder (g) and then Sam Sadigursky (sax). All of her ballads have character as she projects the lyrics with confidence. Hardy wrote most of the songs and her covers like “All Or Nothing At All” are also fresh. Randy Ingram (p), Matt Clohesy (b) and Kendrick Scott (d) do a fine job stepping up in the right places for support. They play straight ahead jazz and even some fusion to support thirteen vocal tracks. Julie’s sound is unique and we like what she has to say.
