O’s Notes: Pianist Oliver Jones combines with bassist Skip Bey for these ten duets. Half were recorded back in 1986 and the balance during 2001. Both of these musicians are first call, experienced professionals. Unfortunately, it is the swan song for Jones who elected to retire from the scene shortly after this album was recorded. He goes out with a bang. The performance is lively and vibrant with Oliver’s work bringing memories of Errol Garner and Bey commanding a strong presence on bass. This is true of the music recorded Then and Now.
