O’s Notes: Fields is a soulful crooner who takes a stab singing covers of ten R&B classics starting with “Lovely Day” and ending with “What’s Going On”. Victor is not attempting to be any of the stars that popularized these songs but he does a good job of recreating the memories. He gets help from guest artists Jeff Lorber (g), Richard Elliot (sax), Rick Braun (t) and Chris Camozzi (g). Dust off the vinyl and revisit some of the best with this set.
