O’s Notes: Pianist George Gruntz is a renowned composer and arranger for large ensembles. One of the characteristics of his work can be summed up in one word, fun! The opener “So: What Serious Fun”, a composition that is like a well-organized jam session where you can feel the enthusiasm of the musicians playing. They take it all over the map on this CD but most of it is satisfying.
