O’s Notes: This time tested band is back after a two year recording hiatus with eleven new songs. The crew is Jimmy Haslip (b), Bob Mintzer (sax), Russell Ferrante (p) and drummer Marcus Baylor. The Yellowjackets have a patented groove with funky, syncopated beats and irregular time signatures. “Time Squared” is an excellent example. The music has a contemporary feel – modern fusion done well!
