O’s Notes: Time Will Tell is a rich performance featuring trombonist Adrian Mears with singer Nicole Herzog’s septet. Mears arranged the music, eight timeless standards. Nicole is a new face on the jazz scene and she brings a strong voice, soaring on “The Man I Love”. She excels singing with the band in harmony on the opener, a unique arrangement of “One Note Samba”. She shares the stage with her band allowing generous solos throughout the session making it equally an instrumental recording as much as a vocal set. We enjoyed the powerful brass arrangement on “Agua De Beber” and Nicole’s energy on “If I Were A Bell”. The musicians are strong making this a good session.
