O’s Notes: Baritone saxophonist Glenn Wilson leads a seasoned quintet performing a live set at Havana Nights Jazz Club in Virginia Beach. John D’earth plays trumpet and contributes two originals to the program of modern jazz. John Toomey plays piano with Jerry Masters on bass and drummer Tony Martucci. Each of these musicians has played with Wilson in some configurations and each is also an educator of jazz. But don’t take that latter point as a suggestion that they are sterile. The solos are well developed, heartfelt and vibrant, easy to appreciate across the board leading to a solid engagement.
