O’s Notes: Sickafoose plays bass, piano, vibes, percussion and even accordion through a Leslie! There is a lot of dubbing going on! But he also employs a full brass section, two drummers, two guitarists and special guests Andrew Bird (v, loops) and Ani DeFranco (voice, special effects, electric ukulele). The groove of “Invisible Ink, Revealed” is underscored by Todd’s bass intro and it gets funkier by the minute. They mellow out a bit on “Bye Bye Bees” before playing the soothing “Pianos of the 9th Ward”. Most of the tracks are relaxed. We favored the syncopated beats of “Warm Stone” and subtle intricacies of the title track. The more we listened, the more we became engaged.
