O’s Notes: Saxophonist Felipe Salles plays nine compositions written by abolitionist, Tiyo Attallah Salah-El while incarcerated In Pennsylvania. Tiyo passed in 2018 but his Songs Of Life continue to live on this recording. Salles plays in a quartet with Zaccai Curtis (p), Avery Sharpe (b) and Jonathan Barber (d). We enjoyed “Steppin’ Up”, and “I’m Reaching Out” in the nine-song session.
