O’s Notes: Lew and Bob play tenor sax as did Al Cohn and Zoot Sims, the fabled duo that is being honored on this CD. Al and Zoot were mainstays at New York’s Half Note Jazz Club during the 1950s-1960s performing their magic night after night. They had an effortless swing that was soothing and dynamic. Lew and Bob are veterans of today’s New York metropolitan jazz scene. They pair with a fine rhythm section including Tony Marino (b), Tom Whaley (d) and Jesse Green (p) to recreate that fine sound. It doesn’t take long to fall in love with this groove song after song!
