O’s Notes: Dr. Lee Shaw instructed a 13-year-old John Medeski on piano in the late 1970s. They reunited for this performance in Albany, NY at the Egg in April 2009. Jeff Siegel (d) and Rich Syracuse (b) round out the quartet. The music is vibrant with seven original compositions, four by Lee and three from John. The eighth selection “Lizards” is a group improvisation with Medeski playing a little cat and mouse. Other highlights are “Blues 11” and “Wiggly’s Way” first recorded by MMW.
