O’s Notes: Translucent Space is a compilation of nine original compositions. Mike Holober’s (Rhodes, p) work on “Proximo” gives this a contemporary fusion feel contrasted with the Middle Eastern flair created by flutist Soo-Kyung Park. Jason pulls out his bass clarinet on “Southampton” to create a unique lead line. He plays the full range of saxophones during this session. We also like the pace and feel of “Backandforthedness” among this neo-bop songs.
