O’s Notes: Sarah plays trumpet and sings leading her quintet through twelve jazz mostly original tunes. The lone cover is a unique arrangement of “Love Will Tear Us Apart”. Sarah is very generous with the spotlight sharing the lead lines with Ben Goldberg on clarinet. He does a fine job on “Blessing” and “Fall Has Arrived”. The music takes in many faces from bop to pop to fusion. Among the best are “In Resonance Light Takes Place” and “Underneath the Soil”. Those tracks leave a lot for Wilson to build on going forward.
